Christmas 2010 - Gift Exchange

Did I ever have fun doing this layout (sorry sis, we didn't have a pic of you opening your gifts).  I can honestly say that I very much enjoyed doing the "chinese" gift exchange with my family this year, it was our first ever and I hope we do it again.  It was a lot of fun.  As you will see from the layout (based on sketch #140 from Creative Scrappers) that everyone was having a good time.  I just love the expression on my dad's face when my hubby stole his gift (he was really in shock..LOL), then the expression on my hubby's face for stealing the gift = priceless !

Momma

A layout based on sketch #139 from Creative Scrappers.  I actually do call my mom "Momma" but it sounds more like muh-ma LOL  Journaling reads "I do very much cherish what little time we have together.  Wish you lived closer.  Love you very much".  Over the Christmas holidays, mom and I got to scrapbook quite a bit, we really enjoyed that.  So for her birthday in January, I ordered a huge box of scrapping yummy goodness and had it sent to her.  We are planning a girls scrapbooking weekend with my sister too! I can't wait !

C/Supt Doug Coates - R.I.P.

A scrapbooking layout based on sketch #138 from Creative Scrappers.  I am still fiddling with my new camera, so I apologize for the bad quality.

C/Supt Coates was my boss when I worked in International Peacekeeping Branch at the RCMP a couple years ago.  He died in the Haiti earthquake last year and this sketch inspired me for this layout.  The colours Red, Blue and Gold are the RCMP Colours. I actually made the mixed media title "Fighting for the world" several years ago for a canvas I was planning on creating, but never did - thought it was fitting for this layout as well.  And while I was on the Dominican Island last week (same as Haiti for those who don't know and just a year after the Haiti earthquake), I grabbed some sand from there and placed it on the star beside the title.  May he rest in peace.

Awesome Mosaic Art

We are back from our trip in Punta Cana.  Our flight was delayed over 20 hours and we got to stay at a different resort, it was beautiful and they had beautiful art everywhere.  This display of beautiful mosaic figures caught my eye.. One of these days, I will make something similar.

In Memory of Eugene Burgoyne

DH's biological father passed away when DH was just 6.  Uncle John provided us with a photo of him, so I thought I would frame it.  I altered the frame with distress paint, ink and stickles and it gave an awesome leather look.  DH was very appreciative of this gift.

Authentic - Creative Scrappers Sketch #137

I created this layout for a challenge over at Creative Scrappers (check them out, they have weekly challenges and awesome prizes).  Every fall, I haul dear hubby out to get fall pictures of ourselves.  This year, we actually got alot of nice ones.  I think he is very photogenic, don't you think?

Winter Fun

My niece Alexa and her dog Buddy... Nothing like seeing kids play in the snow.

Me, my mom and sis...

Well the holidays are over... I scrapbooked a dozen or so pages while at my mom's and can you believe that I didn't take any pictures? shame shame shame..LOL   So I will post a few of the ones I did in the past months.

Today I spent the ENTIRE day re-organizing my scrapbooking area.  I am LOVING it.  A friend of mine aka Kelly had this awesome way of clipping up her rub-on's etc, by using an old lamp, so I created one today too (will post picture once I find my camera).. thanks Kelly! Much cheaper than buying the "clip it up" organizer.

So here goes...a picture of me (beautified by my dear niece Elly) on the first day of my weight loss journey.

And a layout of my sister and I as kids.

And a picture of my mom.. glad she didn't close her eyes for this one...LOL

Wishing you all a wonderful new year ahead!
